Reviews
Realme Narzo N53 design and display
The
Realme Narzo N53 follows the prevailing trend of smartphones with its sleek and
flat frame along with a rear panel that echoes this design approach,
reminiscent of recent smartphone releases. Notably, the phone's camera module
bears a striking resemblance to Apple's Pro iPhone lineup, an intentional
choice that gives the Narzo N53 an elevated appearance. The device's weight is
kept in check at around 182g, contributing to its comfortable and lightweight
feel in the hand. Realme takes pride in the Narzo N53's slimness, measuring a
mere 7.49mm, and while I didn't subject it to extreme bending tests, applying
slight pressure to the back panel revealed its robust build without noticeable
flex.
My Narzo
N53 comes in Feather Gold color, which showcases a blend of gold, yellow, pink,
and blue hues when viewed from different angles. Personally, I found this color
scheme a bit flashy, leaning towards the more subtle Feather Black option.
However, the advantage of the gold variant lies in its ability to effectively
conceal fingerprints. On the front, the phone features a tall 6.74-inch IPS LCD
display with an HD+ resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. While a full-HD+
resolution would have been desirable, the existing configuration suffices for
its market segment. The screen's readability suffers slightly due to its larger
dimensions, with text and visuals lacking sharpness. A small waterdrop-style notch
houses the front camera, and although side bezels are slim, the chin is
comparatively thicker. This tall display is excellent for tasks like scrolling
through social media and enjoying videos. However, the device supports Widevine
L3 DRM, limiting video streaming to HD resolution on OTT platforms. Although
the screen is suitably bright indoors, outdoor visibility under intense
sunlight is compromised, even at maximum brightness. Touch response, on the
other hand, is commendable. The Realme Narzo N53 incorporates a singular
speaker at the bottom, providing commendably loud and quality audio output
considering its price range. Positioned on the side, the fingerprint scanner
offers ease of accessibility and swift authentication.
Realme
Narzo N53 performance and battery life
The
Realme Narzo N53 is equipped with an entry-level SoC that adequately manages
day-to-day tasks. However, the limitations become evident when tackling
resource-intensive games. For instance, in Call of Duty: Mobile, gameplay
experiences frequent stutters, and even in Asphalt 9: Legends, there's
noticeable lag during intense sequences. On the flip side, lighter games like
Subway Surfer and Candy Crush run seamlessly.
In AnTuTu
benchmarking, the Realme Narzo N53 scored 2,19,098 points, slightly below the Realme
C55's score of 2,57,736 points. In Geekbench 6, it achieved 408 points in the
single-core test and 1,462 points in the multi-core test. The device
impressively offers over a day's worth of battery life on a single charge,
leaving around 30 percent of battery even after indulging in activities like
gaming and social media throughout the day. During our HD video battery loop
test, the phone exhibited endurance, lasting for an impressive 17 hours and 26
minutes.
The
bundled 33W charger proves its mettle by fully recharging the Narzo N53 within
approximately an hour and 45 minutes. One of its unique features, the Mini
Capsule, currently serves to display the charging status. Upon plugging in the
device, the waterdrop notch area expands into a larger shape, showcasing
charging information before reverting to its original state. While this feature
might come across as gimmicky, it adds a distinctive touch to the phone's
offering within its segment.
